In (a), the steam turbine entry condition is 60 bar, 400°C, the condenser pressure is 0.1 bar, and the turbine isentropic efficiency is 0.88. In (b), the turbine entry condition is 80 bar, 425°C, the isentropic efficiency is 0.90, and the condenser pressure is 0.1 bar. In both cases take into account feed-pump work. In each case the gas turbine exhaust is cooled to l10°C in raising the steam. Calculate in each case the combined cycle efficiency, and the steam, air and fuel flows and air/fuel ratio for the same power output of 22 MW. In practice, the steam cycle would be more complicated than the superheat cycle with a single turbine used in these examples; you will find the final dryness of the steam is too low. What sort of cycle would you recommend?
