1. Calculate (a) the final pressure, and (b) the work done on a gas when it is compressed according to p Vl.3 = k, from an initial pressure of 120 kPa and volume of 0.08 m3 to a final volume of 0.015 m3 .

2. In the previous problem, atmospheric pressure at 1.013 bar acts on the outside of the piston. Calculate the work done by the atmosphere on the piston, and the remaining work to be supplied to the piston by an external agent. Assume the piston is frictionless.
